After paying the drive-through (road use) fee at the entrance of the Szalajka Valley, we can even visit the valley by car. Without special permission, we can drive until the parking lot at the estuary of the Tótfalusy Valley towards Szalajka and through the Tótfalusy Valley until the Olasz Gate parking lot. The Olasz Gate opening in the rock was made by 18 prisoners of war in 1918 – according to the instructions of Thurzó Gáspár – to open way for building a forest railway. Their hard work is commemorated by a memorial plaque in the wall. 
Going further on the narrow, but very nice path of the asphalt road, there are many places with great views. Along the way we pass the industrial monument made at the upper terminal of the late funicular. If one would like to look at the building also from the inside, then have to ask for a guide in the Museum of Forestry. Around the Olasz Gate situated at 860 m altitude beautiful walks can be made in every direction. The most beautiful routes can go by the earlier mentioned Káposztáskert, Tar Rock, Zsidó Field, Nagymező, Mélysár Field, Hármaskút, Huta Field and an uncountable number of other wonderful places.
