From the entrance of the Szalajka Valley, walking past the Prison Museum we reach the beginning of the trail. After climbing the almost 2 km long trail we arrive at the panorama parking lot, while the signs placed along the trail provide many useful information. The view from the parking lot is spectacular towards Szilvásvárad and the surrounding hills and the valleys between them. In clear weather even the High Tatra is visible. With a short walk we get to the Millenium Lookout, where this panorama is even more beautiful. We can follow the earlier mentioned trails from the parking lot to the right, on the asphalt road towards Tótfalus Valley and to the left, towards north to the Bérci Road.

Many information can be read on the 20 signs besides the trail starting at the BNP information house on the edge of Szilvásvárad and arriving at the lookout on the Kalapat top. 10 signs show the natural values and environment protection activities of the Bükk (these were placed by the Management of the Bükk National Park). We can get acquainted with the geology of the mountain (13 different type of stones of the mountain are displayed here), with the Bükk karst, the flora, the insect world, the predatory mammals, birds of the mountain and the bird protections activities of the national park. 10 signs provide high level forestry knowledge (these were placed by Egererdő PLC), for example about sustainable forest management, reforesting, wood removal, wood processing (with log tonnage measuring table, cylinder volume calculation), hunting, game management, the connection of the forest and the ground etc. Along the trail several covered resting sports, and at the destination the lookout with a beautiful view can be found.
